Today is my last day of work before I disappear for a while. I’m pregnant – Joel and I are expecting our first baby on the 23rd December. For the last 8 months, I have been growing another human being. This is a final goodbye (for now) post. I wish you all a good year – and can’t wait to see how the company and things change in a years time when I will be back!
It has been quite a journey. But now I can safely say I am super excited to be leaving for maternity leave. Over the past 4 1/2 years, I have been working with Active Minds and seeing the company grow from a small space in a tiny room to a 2-floor studio where the team has doubled. It’s an exciting place to be, and it’s fascinating to be part of.
Over the last year the design team doubled and so has our ambition. For me some of our biggest achievements so far have been:
- Our partnership with the Alzheimer Society, UCLAN on the excellent fidget widget products.
- For the first time, we have been working towards a digital app for the care sector which will be revealed later next year. Something we believe will offer the care sector a holistic offer helping care homes bring their homes to life.
- Our work towards the creation of a new App for Carers, which is currently being shortlisted by Essex Council, as part of their Challenge Dementia Innovation bid. We have worked really hard from the ground level to the council and NHS ceilings to understand how a digital service can support carers best.
- Insights work we have done more recently to help us to really understand the day to day lives of dementia carers, their challenges and the opportunities for us as a company to become much more carer and family-centric.
