We have pledged to create 100 products to support people living with dementia by 2018. To make sure all future products are of the greatest quality and fit for purpose, we needed to call on people who know best…its customers! As a first step on this journey, we held an innovation day and invited customers from across the UK to join in and have their say.

The day was an exploration of the ideas and challenges of those who everyday work alongside people living with dementia. There was a great wealth of experience in the groups from activity coordinators to family carers.

The input of people who have close contact with individuals with dementia is of great importance, to ensure the products are sensitive to as many needs as possible. Throughout the day there was an endless supply of creative ideas with themes from music, to underwater televisions, to jet packs!

Alice Osborne, Head of Design, Active Minds

“Having so many of our customers in the same place was such an inspiring exercise. It was invaluable to learn where they would like some support and with such a creative bunch we were bound to get some whacky and wonderful ideas.”

There is now a healthy abundance of product ideas which Active Minds have already started to put into action. Customers will have to keep an eye out for new products throughout the year!
